Mandatory digital time tracking for employees: apps and legal requirements
Since Royal Decree-Law 8/2019, every company in Spain must record its employees' daily working hours, including start and end times. Fines for non-compliance range from €751 to €7,500.
Is a spreadsheet or a paper sheet enough?
Technically yes, but it is impractical and easily challenged in an inspection. The recommended option is a digital clock-in app with:
- Geolocation (for employees working outside the office).
- Automatic recording of clock-in and clock-out.
- Export for the Labour Inspectorate.
- GDPR compliance when processing location data.
Which apps do we recommend?
Depending on the size of the company, we recommend Factorial, Sesame or Kenjo. At DPL we take care of the implementation and the legal set-up.
