Mandatory B2B electronic invoicing in Spain: the Create and Grow Act

Act 18/2022 on the Creation and Growth of Companies (the Create and Grow Act) makes structured electronic invoicing mandatory for all B2B transactions (between companies and professionals) in Spain.

What changes with electronic invoicing?

A PDF sent by email will no longer be valid as an electronic invoice. Companies will have to issue and receive invoices in structured XML format (Facturae, UBL or CII) through connected exchange platforms.

What are the deadlines?

• Companies with turnover above €8 million: obligation in the first phase.
• All other companies and freelancers: extended deadline (pending implementing regulations).

How to prepare?
